The amazing Red Belly Woodpecker is seen enjoying the insects under the bark of the Elm tree in my back yard that died this year. This photo shows the tongue of the woodpecker which is three times the length of its bill. Many more photos of birds are available on request.

Very seldom in the first week of November will the temperature be near 80. It was on this beautiful Sunday afternoon and the camera accompanied me on a walk up a small creek. I got there without a paddle but I didn't arrive without slipping and falling into the water. Like I said it was a warm day. Had it been a typical November day I'd be suffering from hypothermia instead of posting this photo.

On each photo outing I'm always accompanied by two English Cockers. On this day Miss Daisy and Skye went along for the ride. There are two other English Cockers who make this trip with me on a regular basis. They all love the great outdoors and they are keenly adept in finding land terrapins.

The Goldfinch were out in great numbers today in the Eagle Bluffs Wildlife Refuge. After waiting patiently for a while I was able to convince some of the Finch to stop long enough to be photographed.

The former railroad bed for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT)railroad is now a nature hiking path. This old bridge spans Perche Creek as it winds it way south to through the Eagle Bluffs Conservation area and beyond.
