Photo for October 31, 2009

The migratory birds were back in larger numbers to the wildlife area near McBaine, MO this weekend. Here the Drake and Hen Mallards take a leisurely swim while in the distance the sounds of shotguns could be heard as some of their kinfolk were being blasted from the sky.

Photo for October 30, 2009

This old building was the reason Chapel Hill Road in Columbia, MO got its name. Located at Chapel Hill and Fairview Roads it is just three blocks from my home. I've photographed it many times during various seasons of the year. This photo was taken prior to sunrise on Oct. 30. It now serves as a day care center as well as the focal point of many of my photos

Any photo taken outside on Oct. 29 was done so in the rain. This photo was taken from my pick up truck. This is the Fairview Elementary School in Columbia, MO that President Ronald Reagan visited and conferred upon it the honor of one of the Nation's outstanding schools. If you look closely you can see the sign that was placed there after the school was honored.

Photo for October 28, 2009

Its always a special day when you can visit with your mother. Here is Ellawee Scheerer doing her physical therapy at the nursing home today. I trust that her son will be able to lift his arm and have the dexterity she has after having spent 2,991,513,600 seconds on this earth. Her son will reach that plateau if he should happen to live another 25 years. After that strenuous exercise, mother ate a McDonald's sausage biscuit with onion on it. Oh yes, I got a lot of glares when I ordered the onion but without it the chance are mother would have spurned the biscuit and its contents.

Photo for late afternoon Oct. 27, 2009

Early this morning a recent photo was posted. I didn't think there was any way possible of getting a decent photo today with all clouds and rain. The dogs convinced me to give it a try. I cranked up all the features I had at my disposal and found a Mallard couple willing to pose for a few shots.

Picture for October 27, 2009

Few endeavors begin with such a bang. Yesterday's first daily photo was a great hit for one recipient in the Dallas Metro area. With today's weather continuing the dreariest, coldest and wettest October in years it was difficult to obtain a good photo for this day. So, I'm reverting to the past weekend, when we had a sunny day for the photo for today.

Here is the tribute to yesterday's photo "You can quit your blog now John. Nothing you are going to publish in the future is going to come close to the first one that you posted. I am going to have it printed onto photo paper on Carol’s computer and framed for my office wall. You are a master Sir. Perfect shot!"

For those interested additional photos of Yours Truly have been added to the University of Missouri's site. Go to mymissourian.com then in the little search box in the upper left hand corner enter John Hall and you will find thousands of photos under various topics covering the span of a couple of years.

The photo for October 30, 2009 will probably be taken deep in the Missouri Ozarks. Tomorrow is the time for visiting my soon to be 95-year old mother at a nursing home in Ozark, Missouri.

Daily Photo October 26, 2009

Each day the weather changes in Mid-Missouri and I'm usually out there with two dogs and a camera attempting to report to folks around the United States what it looks like in my part of the world. This is the first in hopefully a long series of photos, documenting things in Mid-Missouri that will never be found in news sources.
